GFC hair treatment has become one of the most searched topics in Bangalore recently — and I understand why. If you’ve been dealing with hair thinning or hair fall and have started looking into treatment options, you’ve probably come across GFC and immediately wondered: how much does it cost, and is it actually worth it?
Let me answer that properly — the way I would for a patient sitting across from me.
What Is GFC Hair Treatment?
GFC stands for Growth Factor Concentrate. It’s an advanced hair loss treatment where we draw a small amount of your blood, process it using a specialised kit to extract a highly concentrated solution of growth factors, and then inject it into your scalp at the areas of concern.
These growth factors — proteins your body naturally produces — work by stimulating dormant hair follicles, improving blood supply to the scalp, and encouraging the follicles to enter the active growth phase again.
The key difference from older treatments like PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is the concentration. GFC typically delivers a much higher concentration of specific growth factors compared to standard PRP, with less risk of inflammation at the injection sites. In my experience at Cheveuderm, patients who’ve tried both tend to find GFC more comfortable and report faster visible results.
How Much Does GFC Hair Treatment Cost in Bangalore?
This is the question everyone wants answered directly — and I’ll be honest with you.
GFC hair treatment cost in Bangalore varies quite a bit depending on where you go. The price per session is influenced by several factors, and understanding them will help you make a smarter decision.
What affects the price:
The kit used matters most. GFC uses proprietary single-use kits for blood processing. The quality of the kit — the brand, the concentration technology, the growth factor yield — directly impacts both the cost and the result. Cheaper sessions often mean cheaper kits, which means lower growth factor concentration, which means weaker results.
Number of sessions. Most patients need 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for meaningful results. Some clinics quote a per-session price; others offer packages. The total investment across a full course is what matters, not just the first session cost.
The doctor’s expertise. GFC involves injections into the scalp — the depth, distribution, and technique of the injections significantly affect how effective the treatment is. A dermatologist with experience in hair restoration will deliver different results from an aesthetician or a general practitioner.
The clinic’s setup. A dermatology clinic with proper cold-chain handling, centrifuge equipment, and sterile injection protocols will naturally have different overheads from a salon or spa offering GFC as an add-on service.
At Cheveuderm, we use high-quality GFC kits and the treatment is performed by me personally. If you’d like to know the exact cost for your situation — which depends on the area of scalp involved and the number of sessions we’d recommend — the best step is to book a consultation where we can assess your hair loss pattern and give you a clear, personalised plan.
How Many Sessions Will You Need?
This is something I always assess individually, but here’s a general guide based on what I see in clinic:
For early to moderate hair thinning — where the follicles are still active but weakened — 3 sessions is usually the starting point, with a review after that.
For more established hair loss — where thinning has been happening for a few years — 4 to 6 sessions may be needed, sometimes with a maintenance session every 4 to 6 months after the initial course.
Expecting results after one session is the most common mistake I see. GFC works by stimulating biological processes that take time — you’re not going to see new hair overnight. Most patients notice reduced shedding first, followed by gradual improvement in density over 3 to 6 months.
Is GFC Hair Treatment Worth It in Bangalore?
For the right candidate, yes — genuinely.
GFC is most effective for:
- Androgenetic alopecia (the most common type of hair thinning in both men and women)
- Hair fall due to nutritional deficiency or stress — if you’ve been dealing with hard water and hair fall in Bangalore, GFC can help restore what you’ve lost
- Early stages of hair loss, where follicles are still present and viable
- Patients who want a non-surgical, no-downtime treatment
It is not a solution for advanced baldness where follicles have been lost completely. In those cases, hair transplant is the appropriate option and GFC may be used as a complementary treatment post-transplant.
One thing I always tell patients: GFC is not a one-time cure. It’s a treatment that works with your body’s natural processes. If the underlying cause of your hair loss — whether hormonal, nutritional, or lifestyle-related — isn’t addressed alongside the treatment, results will be limited. This is why we always combine GFC with a proper hair loss assessment and a treatment plan that addresses the root cause.
GFC vs PRP — Which Is Better for Hair Loss in Bangalore?
I get this question almost daily. Both use your own blood and both stimulate hair growth — but they’re not the same.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) extracts platelets from your blood. GFC goes a step further — it extracts and concentrates specific growth factors from those platelets, producing a more targeted and potent solution with less platelet activation (which is what causes the soreness some people experience with PRP).
In terms of results, studies and my own clinical experience suggest GFC produces comparable or better outcomes than PRP with greater patient comfort. It’s also more consistent, because the growth factor concentration is more controlled.
That said, PRP is more established and available in more clinics. GFC is the newer, more refined version. If you’re choosing between the two, I lean toward recommending GFC for most hair loss patients — but the right choice always depends on your individual case. You can read more about both on our PRP and GFC hair treatment page.
What to Expect During a GFC Session at Cheveuderm
The process takes about 45 to 60 minutes in total.
We start by drawing a small amount of blood — similar to a routine blood test. The blood is then processed in our centrifuge using the GFC kit to prepare the growth factor concentrate. While that’s being prepared, we apply a numbing cream to your scalp to make the injections comfortable.
The concentrate is then injected across the areas of thinning using very fine needles. Most patients describe mild pressure — not significant pain. After the session, you can go home immediately. There’s no downtime.
Your scalp may feel slightly tender for a day or two. Some patients notice small bumps at injection sites that resolve within 24 hours. We give you clear aftercare instructions before you leave.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is GFC safe? Yes. Because we use your own blood, the risk of allergic reaction or rejection is essentially zero. It’s one of the safest hair loss treatments available.
How soon will I see results? Reduced shedding is often the first sign — usually within 4 to 6 weeks. Visible improvement in density typically appears from the 3rd to 4th month onwards.
Can GFC be combined with other hair loss treatments? Yes, and we often recommend it alongside minoxidil, nutritional support, or other medical management depending on your case. GFC is not a standalone solution for everyone. We also offer anti-dandruff treatment and other scalp health treatments that are often combined with GFC for best results.
Is GFC suitable for women? Absolutely. Female pattern hair loss and diffuse thinning respond very well to GFC. It’s one of the treatments I use most frequently for women experiencing hair fall in their 20s to 40s.
How is GFC different at a dermatology clinic versus a salon? The difference is significant. At a dermatology clinic, the assessment, the product quality, the injection technique, and the aftercare are all clinical. Salons offering GFC are using the same name for a very different — and often diluted — experience. Always ensure you’re getting GFC from a qualified dermatologist.
Should You Book a Consultation?
If you’re losing more than 100 strands a day, noticing thinning at the crown or hairline, or your hair simply isn’t as dense as it used to be — it’s worth getting a proper assessment.
At Cheveuderm, we begin with a thorough hair and scalp evaluation before recommending anything. GFC may be the right treatment for you, or we may find that something else — or a combination — is more appropriate for your pattern of hair loss. You can also explore our full range of hair treatments in Bangalore to understand what options are available.
The cost of GFC is something we discuss clearly during your consultation, based on what your case actually needs.
